Kidney cancer is a kind of cancer that starts in the kidneys and spreads throughout the body. Your kidneys are two bean-shaped organs that are roughly the size of a hand apiece. They’re behind your abdominal organs, on either side of your spine, with one kidney on each side.
Renal cell carcinoma is the most prevalent form of kidney cancer in adults. Other forms of kidney cancer, which are less frequent, can also develop. Wilms’ tumor is a kind of kidney cancer that is more common in young children.
Kidney cancer appears to be becoming more common. The growing use of imaging technologies such as computed tomography (CT) scans might be one reason for this. These examinations might result in the unintentional detection of more kidney tumors. Kidney cancer is frequently found in its early stages when it is tiny and limited to the kidney.
Symptoms
There are usually no indications or symptoms in the early stages of kidney cancer. The following signs and symptoms may emerge over time:
- Blood can be found in urine that is pink, crimson, or cola-colored.
- Back or side pain that seems to go away
- Appetite loss.
- Weight loss that wouldn’t be explained
- Tiredness
- Fever
